Renault Niagara Pickup Debuts With SUV Comfort & Hybrid 4x4

Renault has unveiled the production Niagara pickup, a new model designed specifically for Latin America that combines traditional pickup capability with the technology and comfort of a C-segment SUV. The Niagara is the first of 14 new Renault models planned for markets outside Europe by 2030 and will be sold primarily in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia. It will be built at Renault’s Santa Isabel plant in Córdoba, Argentina.

A More SUV-Like Take on the Pickup

The Niagara measures 4.91 meters long and 1.72 meters high, with an upright front end, high bonnet and muscular bodywork intended to give it the stance of a larger pickup. The grille carries Renault lettering in a pixelated chrome finish, while the full-LED headlights feature gloss-black surrounds, a welcome sequence and a distinctive daytime-running-light signature. Renault says the truck was designed to balance an urban appearance with off-road capability.

Loaded With Plenty of Tech

Inside, Renault has focused heavily on bringing passenger-car technology into the pickup segment. The dashboard houses a 10.1-inch multimedia touchscreen and 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, with OpenR Link featuring Google built-in, Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play. Google Gemini is also available as a conversational assistant. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, connected My Renault services and up to 48 colors of ambient lighting are also offered.

Safety and driver assistance are also a major part of the Niagara’s SUV-oriented approach. Renault lists 26 ADAS features, including Stop & Go adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-sign recognition and blind-spot warning. A 360-degree panoramic camera and parking assistance are also available.

Multiple Powertrains, Including a Hybrid

Renault has not disclosed a complete engine-by-engine specification sheet yet, but says Niagara will be offered with petrol and Flex Fuel powertrains depending on the market. Manual and automatic transmissions will be available, as will two- and four-wheel-drive configurations. Certain versions feature an intelligent transmission with Eco, Comfort, Sport, Smart, Mud-Sand and Off-Road modes that can adapt traction according to available grip.

A hybrid version will follow later, using the same RGMP pickup platform and paired with four-wheel drive. Renault says this future hybrid will contribute to its goal of having 50% electrified sales outside Europe by 2030.

Renault says the Niagara has undergone nearly 800,000 kilometers of testing across Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, alongside testing at European validation centers. For now, however, there is no announced U.S. launch. Renault’s official material identifies Latin America—primarily Argentina, Brazil and Colombia—as its target market, with additional Latin American markets planned later.
